I have recently been on a quest to try and save money as I have a massive trip coming up. I love me a chai latte, and it’s not that I order them often but I can’t even really afford them occasionally now. I decided to try and make the syrup myself so I could make them at home, and you know what, it was dead easy!!!

Ingredients:

  • 6 chai tea bags
  • 1 teaspoon of crushed cinnamon pieces or 2 cinnamon cloves
  • 3 cardamom pods, lightly crushed in-between your fingers
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water

Method:

add all your ingredients into a small pan and put on the lowest simmer until this boils down to a syrup like consistency. Leave to cool and  then strain into a airtight jar or container that will take at least 150mls. Squeeze all the syrup from your teabags too over the strainer to make sure you get every last drop, there will be plenty that has been soaked up by them too.

This recipe will make about 150mls which will make about 4-5 latte’s depending on the size and strength of your chai latte preference.
